Pre-Care & Aftercare Instructions
Prior to booking your appointment, please read over the pre-care and aftercare instructions. The majority of your results rely on how well you follow your aftercare instructions. You must be able to commit to following these instructions to in order to ensure that you end up with your best brows possible!
*I cannot perform microblading on the following:
Pregnant women or nursing.
Anyone under the age of 18 years old.
Chemotherapy patients need to wait six weeks after last treatment or get microblading prior to starting chemotherapy.
Individuals with Mitral Valve or Prolapse Valve or other heart problems need to get a doctor's note prior to appointment.
Individuals with certain autoimmune disease will be unable to have the procedure.
Diabetics need to get a doctor's note prior to appointment.
Clients must be off Accutane for at least a year prior to appointment.
Clients on antibiotics may be turned away depending on the reason they take their medication.
If you develop keloid scars easily, you are not considered a good candidate for microblading.
You may be turned away as a result of other possible health concerns or if you do not follow your pre-care instructions. If you have any questions about possible health concerns, feel free to email me and we can discuss if there is an issue. When in doubt, ask your doctor.
No blood thinners or aspirin 2 days prior to procedure unless prescribed by doctor.
No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior. These may increase the bleeding during the procedure and may alter results.
No Botox or skin injections 2 weeks before and after your appointment.
No facials or chemical peels 30 days prior.
Retin-A, anti-acne, and anti-aging products cannot be used around brow area for at least 30 days prior.
MUST be off Accutane for at least 12 months
Avoid intentional tanning for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Sunburns must be completely healed before your appointment. If you come in with a sunburn or overly tanned skin, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment!
Skin in brow needs to be clear of cuts and major blemishes.
Please, do not wax brows at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment so that I am able to see the natural hair growth pattern.
No laser hair removal treatment in the area 30 days prior to appointment.
If you become sick at the time of your appointment, you will need to cancel or reschedule.
Please do not bring any food or drinks to your appointment (unless medically necessary). It is a health and safety issue and you will be asked to dispose of them prior to entering the work space.
When at all possible, please refrain from bringing other guests with you to your appointment. In order to stay focused, free of distraction, maintain a clean work space, and avoid over-crowding the room, it is appreciated that only guests having the procedure done come to the appointment. If you do bring a guest, they may be politely asked to wait in the reception area.
After the procedure, LIGHTLY dab away any excess blood, pigment, or seepage from the brow area. DO NOT RUB. Do this morning and night during the first 3 days of the healing process.
Immediately following your appointment, and for several days after, your brows will appear very dark and bold. This is completely normal and the color will lighten up to 40% once healing is complete.
No exercising for the first two weeks after your appointment and avoid excessive sweating. This may cause pigment to escape the skin or may cause hair strokes to blur.
Avoid getting water on your brows. This means avoiding the area when washing your face, being careful in the shower, no steam rooms, and no submerging your brows in water.
Do not pick at, rub, or scratch your brows. Around day 4-5 in the healing process, your brows may become very itchy. This is entirely normal.
72 hours after your procedure, you are to begin your aftercare balm. It is to be applied once daily unless we discuss otherwise depending on your skin type. This should be continued until the healing process is complete.
No makeup is to be applied to the brow area until the brows have finished the flaking process. On average, this is after 2 weeks, but healing times vary from person to person.
Do not allow pets to lick the area near your brows. If you have a pet that sleeps on your pillow, you should change your pillow case nightly or cover it with a towel to prevent pet hair and dander from getting into the brow area.
Avoid gardening and outdoor activities that may cause dirt or other residue to get into the brows.
Avoid sun exposure and use protective barriers such as hats and SPF 50 sunscreen in the brow area once it has healed. Tanning should be completely avoided until after the healing process. Intentional tanning can alter the pigment color and cause fading faster.
After healing process has finished, you should still avoid putting anti-aging and anti-acne products near your brow area as it may cause pigment to fade faster or alter the pigment color.
Touch-ups should be scheduled for 6-12 weeks after the initial appointment. Any areas where the pigment did not hold well will be fixed during this appointment.
Most importantly, enjoy your new, beautiful, low-maintenance brows!
